Vulnerable Adult E-Learning

This programme provides staff with an awareness of the legislation and Government policy supporting the protection of vulnerable adults.

The programme uses a range of methods to provide a framework to develop individuals understanding and confidence in dealing with this difficult issue. These include quizzes, web links and a final assessment quiz.

The programme aims to provide underpinning knowledge to enable staff to:-

  • Understand what is meant by the term 'Vulnerable Adults'
    • Understand what is meant by abuse
  • Understand their rights under the Public Disclosure Act (1998) (Whistle blowing)
  • Provide the underpinning knowledge to enable staff to:-
    • Contribute to and take necessary action to safeguard vulnerable adults
    • Identify indicators of abuse
    • Be able to report concerns
    • Be able to deal with disclosures of abuse and immediate incidents
    • Know how to access support
    • Ensure that appropriate documentation is maintained.
    • Write a report of an incident
