Infection Control is Everybody's Business! 1 in 10 patients who are admitted to hospital in the UK will contract a Healthcare Acquired Infection such as MRSA. We all have an important role to play in ensuring that our hospitals and healthcare facilities are safe and healthy places, and this series of short programmes will give you the practical guidance you need.

 

Core Learning Outcomes:

The learner will be able to describe the importance of the following modular content in the prevention and management of infection by micro-organisms:

• Microbiology — routes of transmission
• MRSA
• Clostridium difficile
  
• Sharps management
  
• The use of protective clothing
  
• Enteral feeding
  
• IV therapy
  
• Urinary catheterisation
  
• Decontamination
  
• Hand hygiene

 

Learning design: Each module can be undertaken in isolation or as a collective group that builds up into a comprehensive overview of infection control. Modules are highly interactive, using a variety of question-types to encourage users to apply underlying concepts to their day-to-day working environment. Courses are also graphically-rich, using visual assets as appropriate.

An end-of-course test assesses users on the level of knowledge they have retained. A CPD certificate is issued upon successful completion of each module.

Course duration: Each module will require approx. 60 minutes learning time (users can bookmark progress and complete the course in 'chunks').
