Dispute Resolution E-Learning

Looking for a better way to engage with difficult issues arising in the workplace – and if necessary, negotiate effectively? This 15-minute ‘coffee break’ quiz introduces the Early Dispute Resolution (edr) Initiative at the University of Dundee. It covers some simple skills and tips that may help if you think you are either on-course for conflict – or are already in the middle of one.

Don’t think of this as being a course on edr – rather, it’s a ‘taster’ to give you a better idea of how edr skills can be used, what the edr services (including mediation) are that Dundee’s team can offer to help you, and what the benefits can be. In essence, an edr initiative:

  • works through informal, voluntary channels to resolve existing disputes and anticipate (and prevent) potential future conflict areas
  • includes the optional use of mediation or awareness training with edr skills, which can be flexibly tailored to meet your needs, and those of your School, College or Department
  • provides a quick, simple and cost-efficient way to resolve disputes, and a greater chance of reaching an agreement which will be voluntarily respected by all parties.

Learning design: MACM courses are highly interactive, using a variety of question-types to encourage users to apply underlying concepts to their day-to-day working environment. Courses are also graphically-rich, using audio-visual assets as appropriate.

Course duration: 15 minutes (users can bookmark progress and complete the course in ‘chunks’).

All our courses are highly customisable. Clients can add their own graphics, and adapt text-based resources to cover their own procedures and areas of key interest. Clients can also link to their own internal policies and procedures.
